Sundal is a healthy, simple snack perfect for
elders and even for kids. For navarathri , am posting few sundal recipes,on that
row , here is the one more variety of sundal.
Pacha payaru sundal is really a easy sundal recipe
made using green gram-pacha payaru/muzhu payaru, which is having high source of
pretein, and iron,. It also helps to reduce weight naturally. It is good to
have as salad too.
This green gram sundal can be prepared as sweet and
also as spicy too. In this post am giving the recipe of sweeter
version of Green gram sundal.

GREEN GRAM SWEET SUNDAL
SOAKING TIME: 5 HRS | PREPARATION
TIME: 5 MINS | COOKING
TIME: 20 MIN

INGREDIENTS:
1
1/2 cup Green Gram
Water
to cook
Salt
to taste
½
cup grated coconut
¾
cup jaggery
1
teaspoon cardamom powder
PREPARATION:
Soak the green gram in water for
minimum 5 hours.
Grate the coconut and set aside.
METHOD:
Pressure cook the soaked green peas
with enough salt for 1 whistle.
Don’t let it over cook and make it as
mushy.
Drain the water and keep it aside.
In a pan add little water and jaggery.
Mix well till it completely dissolved.
Filter the syrup to remove the
impurities in any.
Add the grated coconut and cardamom
powder and mix well.
Let the jaggery syrup to boil in medium
heat.
Once the syrup becomes little thick (no
need to get any specific consistency), add the drained green gram and mix
well.
Serve hot!!
NOTES:
- Don’t overcook the green gram. For safer side, it is better to cook in open pot itself instead of pressure cooker.
- Adjust the sweetness by adding/reducing the jaggery amount.
- if you are cooking the green gram for sweet and spicy in common, add less salt, later while tempering for spicy sundal, add as required.
