Banana
stem is one of the wonderful vegetable having good amount of health benefits. taking
banana stem at least once in a week is very important. In this post am giving
the recipe of banana stem buttermilk. Buttermilk is very good to take in summer
season to reduce the body heat. Here I have given the recipe of banana stem
raita.
There
are variety of raitas we can make using various vegetables and even fruits. Already
I have posted the radish raita. Generally in south indian meals which is specially
prepared for guests or in the fuctions, raita will be must in the banana leaf.
But that is a normal raita we usually prepare by adding coconut, onion and with
some tempering.
Also
while serving the spicy variety rice or any briyani/pulaos generally raita will
be served as side dish. Because the curd in the raita will be must to reduce
the effect of hotness in the food like briyani.
This banana
stem raita is not only need to serve with rice; you can eat as it is. Yes, we,
me and my hubby likes to eats it as it is like some mid day filling.

RECIPE CARD:
BANANA STEM RAITA(MULLANGI
THAYIR PACHADI

SERVES: 2 PERSONS
INGREDIENTS:
1 cup Finely
chopped Banana stem
1 cups
thick curd
2 tablespoon
grated coconut
1 green
chilli
Few curry
leaves
1 or 2
springs coriander leaves
Salt to
taste
To temper:
1 teaspoon Oil
1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds
PREPARATION:
First clean the banana stem and chop it
finely.
Clean and finely chop the coriander leaves
and curry leaves and keep it aside.
Whisk the curd till it becomes smooth.
Finely chop the green chillies and keep
it aside.
METHOD:
In a mixing bowl take the curd.
Add the chopped banana stem, curry
leaves, coriander leaves, salt, coconut gratings, green chillies and mix
well.
Finally do the tempering. in a pan add oil and let it heat. Then add the mustard seeds and let it splutter.
Add the tempering to the prepared raita and mix well.
Serve with any spicy variety rice or
briyani/pulao.
