Oats laddu is one of the healthy snack for
kids and even for elders. Nowadays oats becomes a fancy ingredient and widely
believed as , it is so much effective for weight loss. At the beginning, while oats was introduced to us, we commonly make porridge only and have as breakfast, especially taken by the people who are in
diet. Nowadays there are varieties of tasty dishes that we can make using oats.
So this is my try on laddu using oats. I
tried the method which we commonly follow to make rava laddu. But to make this
oats laddu healthier and guilt free, I used palm candy for sweetness instead of
white sugar. The main ingredients and we can say only ingredients to make this
tasty laddus are oats. Palm candy and Ghee. For additional crunchiness and flavor
I have used cashews and cardamom.
So please give it a try and don’t forget to
tell me how it turned out for you.

OATS PALM CANDY LADDU
AUTHOR: KUZHALIS SAMAIYALARAI
RECIPE TYPE: SWEET
CUISINE: SOUTH INDIAN
YIELDS: 7 MEDIUM LADDUS
INGREDIENTS:
½
cup oats(instant or Rolled oats)
¼
cup palm candy
¼
cup ghee
2
cardamoms
8
to 10 cashew nuts
PREPARATION:
Chop the cashew nuts into fine pieces
and set aside.
Clean and grind the palm candy into
fine powder with cardamoms and keep aside with the jar itself.
METHOD:
In a pan add a table spoon of ghee and roast
the chopped cashews till it becomes golden.
Remove from the heat and keep it aside.
In the same pan add the oats and sauté well
for around 3 to 4 minutes in medium low flame or until it starts changing the
colour.
Then cool down the roasted oats and add
it with the ground palm candy powder and again grind in mixer grinder into very
fine powder.
Take the ground oats and palm candy
powder in a wide bowl. Add the roasted cashews and mix well with hands.
Then add the ghee little by little (1/2
tablespoon at a time) and mix well with hands.
Once it becomes like wet sand, and you
can able to make balls out of it at one stage. Stop adding the ghee and make the
laddus as per your desired size.
Top it with chopped pistachios or
saffron and serve!!!
NOTES:
You can add the any other chopped nuts
also along with cashews.
In this recipe I have used only ghee to
make the balls, if you don’t want to use more ghee, add little milk also to
make the laddus, but taste will be little less and the shelf life will be less
if you use milk.
