VIDEO RECIPE:
APPLE PANEER KHEER/APPLE PANEER PAAYASAM
RECIPE TYPE: DESSERT | CUISINE: NORTH INDIAN | SERVES: 2 PERSONS
PREPARATION TIME: 2 MIN | COOKING TIME: 15 MIN
PREPARATION:
- Firstly thaw the paneer and then crumble it with hand. To fasten the thawing process you can soak the paneer in hot water for around 5 to 10 minutes.
- Soak almonds in water and then peel the skin. Then finely chop the almonds and cashews and set aside.
- Finely chop the apples and set it aside. Peeling the skin is optional. But with skin gives nice look to the kheer.
METHOD:
In a heavy bottomed pan add milk and
allow it to boil.
Once the milk starts to boil, simmer
the heat and let it becomes thick for a little.(for around 10 minutes).
Then add the condensed milk and
sugar.stir in between and allow it to boil for few minutes.
Add the chopped nuts mix well.
Add the cardamom powder and saffron and stir.
Then add the crumbled paneer and let
it boil for 1 minute and remove from heat.
Finally add the kewra essence or rose
essence and mix well.
Cool down the kheer to room
temperature and then refrigerate for 2 hours.
Just before serving add the finely
chopped apples and garnish with pistachio powder.
Serve cold.
NOTES:
- After adding the paneer doesn’t let the kheer to boil more, It may lead the milk to curdle.
- Adding essence is purely optional, but it gives nice flavor.
- If you want you can avoid adding sugar and add 1 more tablespoon of condensed milk (depends on your sweet requirement)
- Instead of adding at the end, you can add the apple in the milk before paneer and can let it cook for a little. But I want little crunchiness of the apple, so added just before serving.
